It’s something a bit special for B.Bush & Sons as they take delivery of their new DAF FT GCF 450. The family-owned farm is run by Lisa, transport manager and proud owner of the new DAF, along with her dad and brother. Lisa’s mum, grandmother, and sister also join them as partners in the farm. Based in Revesby, the Bush family have farms that spread over a 25mile radius
Lisa explains, “We run six lorries, all DAFs, and we have these to help with the haulage of our crops. We use them for running sugar beet back and forth to Wissington and Newark, as well as hauling the grain that we grow to various mills.”
DAF Trucks has always played a big part in the Bush family. Lisa explains, “My uncle Kevin ran the lorries before he sadly passed away in 2004. He ran a 95 XF Super Space Cab, she was a beautiful silver and red truck with wheat sheafs on. He had three DAFs on the go, we kept one lorry on and over the course of time, we have built them up with the support of our fantastic drivers.”
Explaining why they choose to go with DAF every time, Lisa said, “We all love our DAF lorries! We find that there is a size to accommodate all that we need as a business.”
Every DAF purchase has been through Ford & Slater, which in turn has created a great working relationship. “We have a really lovely relationship with the salespeople at both Ford and Slater Spalding and Kings Lynn, nothing is ever too much trouble!
Lisa loves her new DAF so much that she has named it after her mum, Kathryn Ann. She has also included her two niece’s names on the truck in a bid to entice them into the world of HGV driving: “It is fantastic to see so many ladies now doing it and we are lucky enough to have another lady driver as well as me!”
Talking about the future of The Bush family’s fleet, Lisa concluded: “I very much doubt we will stray from DAF now. The technology and comfort that they have is fantastic. We are very proud of how our fleet looks now and we look forward to buying more in the future to complete our new blue colour scheme!”
