An instantly recognisable sight on our roads, the fleet of Liam Connolly (Roadfreight) Ltd travel the length and breadth of the UK & Ireland transporting the cargo of its loyal customers. Established in 1981 by Liam Connolly, this family-run company has remained committed to its founding principles by providing dependable, reliable transportation solutions. LCRF’s 35 year experience in the haulage industry means its name is trusted by many and is now one of Northern Ireland’s leading distribution firms.
Operating from a purpose built 3 acre depot in Lisnaskea, the fleet of LCRF handle parcel, pallet, bulk and liquid deliveries every day. Reliance upon their trucks is high, and so investment in new tractor units has to be well considered. Having had a number of DAFs in use over the years, Connollys appreciated the power, reliability, comfort and safety of the XF model and decided to purchase four more from the Euro 6 series.
Specifically designed for long distance heavy haulage, the DAF XF460 SS is the mightiest truck in the Euro 6 range both in size and stature. The XF’s new Paccar MX-13 engine is packed full of the latest technology, such as the smart MX air compressor and high pressure common rail injection system. This ensures a high performance output of 460hp/ 2300Nm whilst still retaining the favourable fuel economy level of Euro 5 ATe.
The high-tensile steel chassis is both light and strong and gives the truck a high payload capacity. Innovative positioning of essential components such as batteries, AdBlue tank and pump units makes day-to-day maintenance more accessible and convenient. A robust, light weight SR1344 rear axle and Stabilink suspension system work in conjunction to improve handling and stability for a superior drive when in operation.
The cab of the DAF XF is unequalled for space and comfort. Opting for Super Space units across all four trucks, the drivers at LCRF will be working in the most generous cabs in the market. With 2.25m standing space, pocket spring bunk beds and over 1000 litres of stowing space, this cab really is a home from home. Fatigue is a common complaint of long distance driving, so DAF have redesigned the steering wheel, pedals and dashboard layout to give an improved driving position and aid intuitive operation. Bright, clear dials and easy to read feedback from the Driver Performance Assistant keep the driver continually informed on their driving style, as well as offering tips for better efficiency.
