Based just off the arterial A1 in County Down is specialist hire company Nitro Asset Management. Providing a wide range of trucks, trailers and other commercial vehicles to customers on long lease, Nitro Asset is a one-stop shop for companies from different transport sectors wishing to hire a vehicle. With competitive pricing, high quality stock at an easily accessible location, Nitro Asset is kept busy with its continually expanding customer base. To keep up with demand, the company recently made a number of major purchases from TBF Thompson DAF Trucks, increasing their fleet with three Euro 6 DAFs from the LF range: LF210 with curtainside body and tail lift, LF250 with curtainside body and tail lift and LF250 with box-van body and tail lift.
Built to DAF’s typical high standards, all three LFs are designed to be market leaders in the distribution sector with high payloads, manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency. Their chassis are light and strong; made with high quality steel and of single wall construction, the LFs framework is rigid giving it a low kerb weight and excellent driving characteristics.
The LF component layout is a new innovation for the Euro 6 model, with essential elements such as fuel tanks and brake controls conveniently located inside the chassis. Not only does this help free up space for installation of additional modules, but it also keeps the top of the chassis completely flat, therefore making it an ideal surface for bodybuilding.
Powering the three LFs are two of Paccar’s latest new engines; the PX-5 and PX-7. The PX-5 is a sprightly 4 cylinder motor fitted inside the LF210 while the LF250s move along under a burly 6 cylinder PX-7. Both engines are fitted with Euro 6 technology, keeping down emissions and fuel consumption but raising reliability and output efficiency. Recognising the importance of operation uptime, DAF have made the LF range as low maintenance as possible with service intervals of up to 60,000Km and a particulate filter that only needs cleaning after 320,000Km.
Another unifying feature of the Euro 6 range is its superior cab comfort. Built to be a spacious and optimal working environment, DAF designers have created a roomy ergonomic interior with generous storage space. Wide open doors with courtesy lighting enable operators to effortlessly access the cab while fully adjustable seats make any driver feel at home behind the wheel. Easy-reach controls on the dashboard, DAF Driver Performance Assistant software and multifunction steering wheel all help make the LF a truck that is simple to operate for all.
Additionally, Nitro Asset Management opted for AS Tronic fully automated gearboxes to be fitted across all three LFs, enhancing driver comfort and providing better engine performance and efficiency.
Upon receiving the new LFs at TBF Thompson’s DAF depot, it wasn’t long before Nitro Asset Management sent them on their first job to work for IFS logistics in Antrim. With customers all over Northern Ireland, Nitro’s new trucks could work anywhere in the province, but should they require any support, help is always at hand at TBF Thompson. Our three dedicated DAF depots have expert sales staff and engineers ready to handle any parts, service or sales queries. After hours or during the holidays, we are available 24/7 through DAF’s esteemed DAFAid callout system. With top class trucks and market leading support, Nitro Asset Management will have many years loyal service from their new LFs.
