Lynn Star Distribution and Logistics Ltd, of Kings Lynn in Norfolk, have taken delivery of three brand new tractor units from Ford and Slater with a further three new DAF 18 tonne rigids making their way to the company later on in the year.
Lynn Star specialise in the haulage of goods across the UK and Europe and have a fleet of 40 vehicles in total. The new tractor units form part of an on-going fleet replenishment programme to replace vehicles which are currently rented. Chris Rowe, Senior Transport Manager at Lynn Star explains, “We wanted to get away from hiring trucks so that we can have our own livery on vehicles.”
The 18 tonne rigids will be used for next day deliveries as part of the Pallet-Track network whilst the new FTGCF460 tractor units will be used for general haulage during the day and trunking at night. Rowe outlined the reason for their choice, “We have a long standing relationship with Ford and later and DAF so it was easy to make the decision to buy from Ford and Slater DAF again. We opted for a lighter CF model as some of our customers are weight orientated and we’re very happy with the new vehicles.”
Rowe continued, “We will be purchasing more vehicles this time next year and will be certainly looking to buy more DAF trucks. The service we get from Ford and Slater at Kings Lynn and Peterborough is second to one”.
